About Vanessa Ferrari
Vanessa Ferrari is an Italian artistic gymnast who shot to fame when she was just 13, winning a silver medal in the all-around at the 2004 Junior European Championships. Since then, she’s gone on to become World Champion in 2006, and has won gold medals in team all-around and floor exercise events at the European Championships and Mediterranean Games. She’s competed for Italy in three Olympics – most recently at London 2012 where narrowly missed out on a medal after tying with Aliya Mustafina but losing out due to tie-breakers. Her parents Galya and Giovanni are Bulgarian and Italian respectively, making her one of two World Champions (alongside Bridget Sloan) from mixed heritage backgrounds.
