Julie Harris, born on December 2, 1925, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, was an accomplished movie actress and a five-time Tony Award winner. She is best known for her portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln in The Last of Mrs. Lincoln and received three Emmy Awards during her career.
Harris made her Broadway debut as a cast member of The Member of the Wedding in 1952 and went on to have a successful career on stage and screen. In 1976, she won a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for her role in The Belle of Amherst.
She had one son and was married three times, with her last marriage being to Walter Carroll in 1977.
