About Jacqueline Avant
Jacqueline Avant (March 6, 1940 – December 1, 2021) was a philanthropist and the wife of music executive and film producer Clarence Avant. She was born in Queens, New York and married Clarence in 1967. Together, they had a daughter named Nicole Avant who served as an ambassador to Barbados during the Obama Administration, and a son named Alexander Du Bois Avant.
Before her tragic passing due to a fatal shooting during a home invasion at their Beverly Hills residence in December 2021, Jacqueline had been known for her philanthropic work. She held various leadership roles including president of Neighbors of Watts group and chairwoman of membership for the group in 1974. Additionally, she also served on the board of directors of the International Student Center at UCLA.
