About Aurora Aksnes
Aurora Aksnes, better known by her stage name Aurora, is a pop singer and songwriter born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway.
She gained international recognition with the release of her debut EP Running with the Wolves in May 2015. However, it was her cover of the Oasis song “Half The World Away” for British retailer John Lewis’ Christmas commercial that propelled her to fame.
Prior to her music career taking off, Aurora discovered her passion for music when she found her parents’ old electric piano in the attic. She began writing songs at age 10 and released her first single “Puppet” in December 2012.
Her breakthrough came with the release of “Runaway” in February 2015 which garnered significant attention and reached over a million streams on Spotify within six weeks.
Aurora comes from a close-knit family; she is the daughter of Jan Oystein Aksnes and May Britt Aksnes and has two sisters named Viktoria and Miranda.
