About Zhou Yaqin
Zhou Yaqin is a professional artistic gymnast who was born on November 12, 2005, in Hunan, China. She primarily competes in the women’s balance beam and floor exercise events.
She joined the Chinese women’s national team as a teenager in 2021 and has represented her country at the Chinese Championships and the World Championships. At just 17 years old, she won gold at the 2023 Chinese Championships.
Zhou began training for gymnastics at the age of three and started competing in junior nationals soon after. In 2023, she won silver in the women’s balance beam event at the World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Her margin of victory was just 0.100 points behind Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles – a narrow gap that had not been seen in almost a decade.
