About Zara
Zara, born Nese Yilmaz on January 15, 1976 in Istanbul, Turkey, is a Turkish folk singer and actress. She has released ten albums between 1998 and 2014 and received the Golden Butterfly for “Best Singer at Turkish Folk Music” four years in a row from 2000 to 2003.
Before her rise to fame, Zara won a nationwide high school competition for music and folk dance as a female soloist. She also studied vocal music at Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory.
Zara’s career includes performances in the musical production “Yunus Emre,” a leading role in the film “Eylul Fırtınası,” and a prominent part in the show “Gelin.” In terms of personal life, she was married to recording company owner Iskender Ulus from 2002 to 2007 before marrying Akif Beki in 2012.
