About Zaha Hadid
Zaha Hadid, born on October 31, 1950 in Baghdad, Iraq, was a renowned architect. In 2004, she became the first woman and Muslim to be awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize in architecture. She also received the Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011 for her exceptional work.
Hadid was known for her innovative designs that featured futuristic concepts and incorporated curving formations with fragmented geometry and multiple points of perspective. Prior to gaining fame as an architect, she studied mathematics at the American University of Beirut before pursuing architectural studies at London’s Architectural Association School of Architecture where she developed relationships with future notable architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Elia Zenghelis, and Bernard Tschumi.
In addition to her professional achievements, Hadid had a successful teaching career working at various institutions including the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Architecture.
