Yrsa Daley-Ward is an English novelist, author, and actress best known for her works in short fiction and poetry. Born on February 11, 1989 in Chorley, Northern England to a Jamaican mother and Nigerian father, she has gained recognition for her books such as On Snakes and Other Stories, Bone: A Collection of poetry, and the Terrible.
Prior to her literary career, Daley-Ward began working as a model for brands like Nike, Apple, and Top Shop before transitioning to performing spoken-word poetry. She released her first book in 2013. In 2012, Company Magazine listed her among the top-five female writers to watch.
Daley-Ward’s writing often delves into the human condition with a focus on topics that are not commonly discussed. Her work has reached countless readers around the world. Notably, she performed at the opening ceremony of COP26 – the UN Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow. To date she has also released The How: Notes on the Great Work of Meeting Yourself (2021).
