About Yityish Aynaw
Yityish Aynaw, born on June 23, 1991 in Ethiopia, is an Ethiopian-born Israeli model and pageant contestant. In 2013, she made history by becoming the first black woman to win the title of Miss Israel. She represented Israel in the Miss Universe pageant held in Moscow that same year.
Before gaining fame as a beauty queen, Yityish moved to Israel at the age of twelve and learned Hebrew while attending high school. After graduating from Kfar HaNoar HaDati, she served as a Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps before being discovered as a model while working at a clothing store.
In addition to her successful modeling career, Yityish also appeared on and competed in the seventh season of the Israeli edition of Survivor where she finished second in the competition.
Born and raised in Gondar, Ethiopia, Yityish’s achievements have garnered recognition including being named by The Jerusalem Post as one of the Most Influential Jews of 2013.
