Yao Ziyi, born on February 8, 1995 in Fuzhou, China, is a renowned Chinese women’s gymnast. She gained widespread recognition for her exceptional performance at the 2014 Asian Games, where she secured gold medals in four separate categories. Additionally, she attained silver in the balance beam at the 2011 World Championships held in Tokyo.
Prior to gaining international acclaim, Yao made her debut at the Cottbus World Cup in 2011. Notably, she decided to change her name from Yao Jinnan to Yao Ziyi in 2014 due to its phonetic resemblance to “too difficult to catch the gold” in Chinese.
