Wendy Whelan (born May 7, 1967) is an American ballet dancer known for her work as a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet and as an artist with Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company. She was born in Kentucky.
Prior to achieving fame, Whelan began her training at the School of American Ballet in 1981, eventually establishing herself as a prominent figure in the dance world.
Notably, she danced original parts in “Namouna, A Grand Divertissement,” a ballet by Alexei Ratmansky. In 2005, she married David Michalek.
