About Wendy Guerra
Wendy Guerra, born on December 11, 1970 in Cuba, is a Cuban poet and novelist. She is known for her notable works including Platea a oscuras, Cabeza rapada, and Posar desnuda en La Habana.
Before gaining fame as a writer, she graduated from the Higher Institute of Art and also earned a degree in film, radio and television direction. In addition to her literary contributions, she appeared in the film Hello Hemingway in 1990.
In 2010, France honored her by naming her a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Her first collection of poems received the prize “13 de marzo”.
Guerra comes from an artistic family; she is the daughter of Albis Torres and Raul Guerra and has a half-brother named Sandro Guerra Garcia. Her mother was an unpublished poet. She is married to Ernan Lopez-Nussa.
