Violetta Villas, born on June 10, 1938 in Verviers, Belgium, was a prominent Polish singer, actress and cabaret performer. She gained fame for her extended residency at the Dunes Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and recorded over three hundred songs during her career. In addition to her musical accomplishments, she also appeared in films such as 1971’s “The Woodpecker.”

Before rising to stardom, Villas initially showed promise as an opera vocalist due to her remarkable five-octave vocal range but ultimately shifted towards more popular genres of music.

Notably, Villas sparked controversy for her association with the Polish Security Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as an informant.

In January 1988, she married American millionaire Ted Kowalczyk but their union lasted less than a year before they divorced.
