About Violet Jessop
Violet Jessop, born on October 2, 1887 in Argentina, was a ship stewardess who became a folk hero for surviving the sinking of the RMS Titanic, HMHS Britannic and RMC Olympic. Her remarkable survival of all three incidents earned her the nickname “Miss Unsinkable.”
Before gaining fame as a survivor of maritime disasters she faced and overcame tuberculosis as a child – just one example where she defied tremendous odds to survive.
Jessop’s life has been portrayed in popular culture through Hollywood blockbuster film “Titanic” and the stage play “Iceberg – Right Ahead!”.
Her parents were Irish immigrants William and Katherine Jessop.
