About Vendela Vida
Vendela Vida was born on September 6, 1971 in California. She is a novelist notable for her debut novel And Now You Can Go (2003) and subsequent works Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name (2007), The Lovers (2010), and The Diver’s Clothes Lie Empty (2015).
She received a Kate Chopin Award and several New York Times Notable Books designations. Vida studied at Middlebury College in Vermont before earning her Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing at Columbia University.
Before becoming known as a novelist, she published her first book, a nonfiction work titled Girls on the Verge. Vida is also known for founding a nonprofit called 826 Valencia that provides creative writing instruction to young people.
Vida was born and raised in San Francisco, California to a Hungarian father and Swedish mother. In 2005, she and her husband Dave Eggers welcomed their first child, a daughter named October Adelaide Eggers Vida.
