About Vassar Miller
Vassar Miller (born July 19, 1924) was an American poet and author known for her poetic works. She received a Pulitzer Prize nomination for her poetry collection titled “Wage War on Silence”. All of her ten poetic works were collected in a 1991 volume entitled “If I Had Wheels or Love”.
Miller was born in Texas and earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in English from the University of Houston before gaining recognition for her literary contributions.
She also suffered from cerebral palsy, adding to the complexity of her life and work. Miller was the daughter of Jesse Miller, a Houston real estate agent.
