Turkan Soray (born June 28, 1945) is a popular Turkish actress known for her appearances in nearly 200 movies, including the critically acclaimed films Mine (1985) and The Girl with the Red Scarf (1978). She made her acting debut at the age of 15 in the Turkish film The Wind of Love.
Soray played a significant role in challenging typecasting by creating the “Soray Rules,” which were a set of expectations she had from producers, aiming to break away from stereotypical roles. Born in Eyüp, Turkey to Halit and Meliha Soray, she was raised alongside her younger sister Nazan. In 1983, she married Cihan Unal and they had a child named Yagmur Unal before their divorce in 1987.
