Trudy Lynn, born on August 9, 1947 in Houston, Texas, is a renowned soul blues singer known for her critically-acclaimed albums such as Trudy Sings the Blues (1989), 24 Hour Woman (1994), I’m Still Here (2006), and her number one Billboard Blues album Royal Oaks Blues Cafe (2014). Prior to her solo success, she performed with the group Rhythmaires and opened for iconic artists like Ike & Tina Turner.
Trudy Lynn began her professional singing career in the mid-60s alongside guitarist Albert Collins. She gained recognition on the Chitlin’ Circuit and recorded at Peacock/Duke Label in Houston, Texas. Notably, she was nominated for the prestigious international Blues Music Awards presented by the Blues Foundation multiple times: in 2007, 2014, and again in 2015.
Born Lee Audrey Nelms in Houston’s Fifth Ward neighborhood where her mother ran a beauty shop at Club Matinee.
