Toni Tennille is a contralto singer known for her work in the pop duo Captain and Tennille, alongside her husband Captain Daryl Dragon. Born on May 8, 1940 in Montgomery, Alabama, she was very active musically during her time at Auburn University. In 1975, she and her husband won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. She married Kenneth Shearer in 1962 but after their divorce in 1972, she remarried Daryl Dragon two years later.
