Toni Basil, born on September 22, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a pop singer known for her No. 1 hit “Mickey” in 1981. She has released two solo studio albums and six compilation albums throughout her career.
Before gaining fame as a musician, she was a cheerleader at Las Vegas High School and graduated in 1961. Notably, Basil provided choreography for films such as American Graffiti (1973), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), and Legally Blonde (2001). In the 1990 movie Eating, she played the character Jackie.
Basil was previously in a relationship with Dean Stockwell from 1965 to 1967.
