Tien Tran is an American TV actress, comedian and writer, best known for portraying Ellen in the Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father. In addition to her acting roles, she has also worked as a writer on the series Work in Progress and voiced characters in Q-Force and Star Trek: Lower Decks. She played Jane Ji in the 2021 horror film Candyman.
Prior to her entertainment career, Tran graduated from Boston College with a degree in biology. Her first screen role was in a 2011 short film titled John Doe. She later portrayed Laura in the series Hot Date and served as an executive producer of the 2021 ViacomCBS Sketch Comedy Showcase.
Tran’s parents are Vietnamese refugees who migrated to the United States in 1979.
