About Thokozile Masipa
Thokozile Masipa was born on October 16, 1947 in South Africa. She is a lawyer and served as a judge in the High Court of South Africa. Masipa gained fame for presiding over the trial of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, where she found him not guilty of murder but guilty of culpable homicide in 2014.
Prior to her legal career, Masipa worked as a social worker. She holds the distinction of being only the second African American female appointed as a judge in the High Court of South Africa. She comes from a large family and is the oldest among ten children.
