About The Lady of Rage
The Lady of Rage, born Robin Yvette Allen on February 6, 1968 in Farmville, Virginia, is a rapper, singer, and actress. She is best known for her 1994 song “Afro Puffs,” which gained further recognition when featured in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto V. Prior to her music career taking off, she was signed at LA Posse as part of the group Original Outlaw Brothers but quickly found herself collaborating with other artists represented by LA Posse.
Rage’s breakthrough came when both Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg enlisted her to record vocals for several tracks on their albums The Chronic and Doggystyle under the moniker Rockin Robin. Notably, upon its original release in 1994 “Afro Puffs” reached number 5 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Singles chart.
Her debut solo album was released in 1997 and achieved success by charting at number 7 on Billboard’s R&B Album list and number 32 on the Billboard Top 200 Album list. In addition to her thriving music career, she also appeared as Coretta Cox on The WB’s series The Steve Harvey Show under her birth name Robin Yvette.
Outside of her professional life, she has three children – two daughters named Zaakiya (born in 1999) and Zaareah (born in 2001), as well as a son born in 2003.
