About Teresa Hsu Chih
Teresa Hsu Chih was a Singaporean civil rights leader known for her tireless efforts in social work. She was born on July 7, 1898, in China and is best remembered as the founder of the Heart to Heart Service and the Home for the Aged Sick organizations.
Prior to gaining recognition for her social work, Teresa worked as a convent cleaner in Malaya. In 2005, she received the Special Recognition Award from the Singaporean government for her outstanding contributions to society.
As a child, Teresa was raised by her mother in a single-parent household alongside her two sisters and brother. Her legacy continues through these organizations that provide valuable services to those in need.
