Teresa Graves was born on January 10, 1948, in Houston, Texas. She was a television actress best known for her role in the TV movie Get Christie Love! which made her the first African American woman to star in her own television drama.
Before rising to prominence as an actress, Graves was a singer with The Doodletown Pipers, a popular easy listening group in the ’60s and ’70s. She also appeared on the short-lived sketch comedy show Turn-On before gaining wider recognition as an actress.
Graves grew up in Houston, Texas and eventually married William Reddick.
