About SZA
SZA, born Solána Imani Rowe and growing up in Maplewood New Jersey, is an acclaimed raspy-voiced singer-songwriter. Her EPs like ‘S’ and ‘Z’ have seen her garner attention from the likes of Vogue and she has even been interviewed by them for her fashion sense. Raised as a Muslim, SZA was unfortunately the victim of bullying following September 11th’s disastrous attacks on The World Trade Center. Taking her stage name from the Supreme Alphabet (where Z and A stand for Zig-Zag and Allah respectively) she first met Kendrick Lamar at one of his 2011 CMJ performances. Both parents were involved in corporate work; her father producing CNN while mum worked at AT&T whilst older half-sister Tiffany also contributed to a bustling home life!
