Sylvana Simons, born on January 31, 1971 in Paramaribo, Suriname, is a Dutch politician and television personality. She gained prominence as one of the Netherlands’ most recognizable television presenters, hosting popular shows like Barend en Van Dorp, Dancing With the Stars and De Wereld Draait Door. Additionally, she has contributed as a regular columnist for Playboy and Veronica Magazine.
In 2021, Sylvana made history by becoming the first Black parliamentary leader of the House of Representatives. Prior to her career in politics and entertainment, she pursued studies in ballet at the Lucia Marthas Institute For Performing Arts in the Netherlands.
Notably, Sylvana presented Dancing With the Stars while also showcasing her talent as a designer by creating all of the dresses she wore on the show. She was married to Frank van Hoorn from 2003 to 2006 and has a brother named Kenneth Leeuwin who works as a fitness instructor.
