About Sydney McLaughlin
Sydney McLaughlin, born on August 7, 1999 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, is a renowned runner known for her talents in hurdling and sprinting. She holds multiple age group world bests and has twice earned the Gatorade National Girls Athlete of the Year award.
Prior to her popularity as a professional athlete, McLaughlin placed third in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2016 US Olympic Trials which led to her qualification for the 2016 Games. Notably, she broke the world junior record for the 400-meter event during the 2018 NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships while representing the University of Kentucky.
Running prowess runs in her family as well – her older brother Taylor achieved silver in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships; both parents were also runners themselves. In addition to her athletic achievements, it was revealed that McLaughlin got engaged to former Carolina Panthers player Andre Levrone Jr. in early 2021 before tying knots with him in May of 2022.
