Swoosie Kurtz, born on September 6, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska, is an Emmy Award-winning TV actress. She is best known for her role as Alex on the popular television drama series Sisters, which aired in 1991. From 2010 to 2016, she portrayed Joyce Flynn in the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly and also had a role in the series Pushing Daisies from 2007 to 2009.
Before gaining fame as an actress, Kurtz’s interest in acting was piqued after performing at a stage play in school. Interestingly, she was named after the Swoose airplane that her father flew during World War II.
Kurtz’s parents are Margaret and Frank Kurtz.
