About Svetlana Medvedeva
Svetlana Medvedeva (born March 15, 1965) is a Russian political figure and the wife of former President Dmitry Medvedev. She has been an outspoken advocate against abortions in Russia.
Medvedeva met her future husband while attending the same middle school, and later studied at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance. She married Dmitry in 1993, following the completion of their university studies.
During her husband’s presidency, she worked to integrate the teachings of the Russian Orthodox Church into Russian culture. After Dmitry became Prime Minister in 2012, Svetlana continued to be actively involved in public life as a prominent political spouse.
