About Susanne Bartsch
Susanne Bartsch, born on September 19, 1968, in Switzerland, is an event director and producer known for her iconic parties at the Copacabana during the late 1980s. Her influence extended internationally, earning praise from Montreal to Miami and being featured in numerous New York Times articles.
Before making her mark as an event director, Bartsch moved to London at 17 and then relocated to New York City in 1981. In SoHo, she opened a clothing shop that specialized in edgy British designs which soon became a cultural staple of the city’s fashion scene. Her impact was recognized by The Museum at FIT with an exhibit celebrating her work in costume design.
Bartsch is also celebrated for establishing the Love Ball in 1989, raising $2.5 million to aid AIDS research efforts. In personal life, she married David Barton in 1995.
