About Susana Chavez
Susana Chavez was a Mexican poet and women’s rights activist known for her efforts to stop the murders of numerous women in Juarez, Mexico. She was born on November 5, 1974, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Susana began attending Mexican literary festivals at the age of eleven and later studied psychology at the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez.
Tragically, she was strangled in Juarez at the age of thirty-six. Susana Chavez left behind a legacy as an influential poet and advocate for women’s rights during the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
Her work continues to be remembered by those inspired by her dedication to promoting justice and gender equality. She came from a family located in the Colonia Cuauhtemoc district of Ciudad Juarez.
