Susan Raye, born on October 8, 1944 in Oregon, is an American country music singer. She gained popularity in the 1970s with her crossover hit song “L.A. International Airport.” In 1971, she won the Most Promising Female Vocalist Award at the Music City News Awards.Prior to her fame, Raye began singing in a high school rock group and later performed on the radio while working as a disc jockey. She also hosted the show Hoedown in Portland.After receiving a degree in psychology in the early 1980s, she transitioned to become a Christian psychologist. In 1972, she married drummer Jerry Wiggins and they had six children together.
