Suraiya, born on June 15, 1929, in Punjab, India, was a renowned movie actress and playback singer in India’s Hindi-language films. Her career spanned from 1936 to 1963 during which she appeared in 67 films and contributed her vocals to a staggering 338 songs.
She embarked on her acting journey as a child actor in Jaddan Bai’s film “Madame Fashion” in 1936. Notably, Suraiya’s legacy is honored each year on her birthday with the airing of her songs by Radio Ceylon, a radio station situated in Sri Lanka.
