About Sue Williamson
Sue Williamson is a renowned South African installation artist and photographer who was born on January 21, 1941 in England. Her work has been showcased at prestigious venues such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the South African National Gallery in Cape Town. Notably, she is the founder of the online art journal known as Artthrob.
Before gaining recognition for her artistic endeavors, Williamson pursued studies at the Art Students League of New York from 1963 to 1965. She has achieved several notable accolades throughout her career, including receiving the Visual Arts Research Award from Washington D.C.’s Smithsonian Institution in 2007.
Williamson’s connection to South Africa runs deep; she moved there with her family when she was just seven years old.
