About Sue Grafton
Sue Grafton was an American novelist born on April 24, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was best known for her Alphabet series featuring private investigator Kinsey Millhone. Some popular titles from the series include “A” is for Alibi, “K” is for Killer, and “V” is for Vengeance. Grafton received three Anthony Awards for Best Novel and one for Best Short Story.
Before becoming a successful author, she worked as a cashier and secretary after graduating from the University of Louisville. In addition to her literary accomplishments, she received the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America Association.
Grafton’s genre has been described as hardboiled detective fiction. She lived with her third husband, Steven F. Humphrey, splitting their time between California and Kentucky. Her first two marriages produced three children.
