Sophie Hawley-Weld, born on May 17, 1992 in Germany, is a pop singer and one half of the House music group Sofi Tukker. The duo gained recognition for their hit singles “Drinkee” and “Best Friend,” with the latter featured in an iPhone X commercial. Prior to her music career, she attended Brown University where she studied Portuguese and development studies, while also playing bossa nova in a jazz trio. She met her Sofi Tukker partner Tucker Halpern at Brown University. The inspiration to create music together struck after seeing a Grimes show. Sophie has one brother.
