In a tragic accident at the Roundhouse Childcare Centre in Sydney, Australia, Sophie sustained severe burns and other injuries when a car crashed through the center. The incident garnered widespread attention and three years later she made headlines again when she was struck by a second driver while crossing the street.
Before fame found her as an advocate for pediatric medical services, Sophie was just two years old when the Roundhouse accident occurred in 2003. Her courage and strength inspired immense support from around the world, resulting in more than $2 million being raised to aid in her recovery.
