Sonya Tayeh, born on April 14, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York, is a renowned choreographer. She gained widespread recognition for her work on the reality television series So You Think You Can Dance and has choreographed for A-list celebrities such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Florence Welch. Before pursuing a career in dance, she dabbled in house dancing as a teenager before enrolling at Wayne State University at eighteen to receive formal training. During her tenure running The Dance Company of San Francisco, Tayeh developed her distinctive combat jazz style. Her passion for hip hop dance was ignited during parties with her sister when she was fifteen.
