Sonoya Mizuno, born on July 1, 1988 in Tokyo, Japan, is a movie actress who initially gained recognition as a ballerina and model for high-end brands such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton. She made her foray into screen acting with the Oscar-winning 2015 science fiction film Ex Machina.
Prior to her acting career, Mizuno spent her childhood in Somerset, England. After graduating from The Royal Ballet School, she transitioned from ballet to modeling at the age of twenty. Notably, she appeared as a dancer in the music video for “Wide Open” by Beck and The Chemical Brothers in 2016.
Mizuno is of English and Japanese descent and hails from a family with theatrical ties; legendary stage actor Edward Duke is her uncle.
