Sonja Yelich Feet

Sonja Yelich, born on February 26, 1965 in Auckland, New Zealand, is a renowned poet. She has gained recognition for her poetry collections such as Clung (2004) and Get Some (2008), with the latter being a finalist at the New Zealand Post Book Awards. Notably, Yelich is also known as the mother of singer Lorde.

Following her graduation from the University of Auckland, she pursued a career in teaching. Yelich’s collection Clung achieved further acclaim by winning the Jessie Mackay Award for Best First Book of Poetry.

Yelich has four children with her husband Vic O’Connor, including the globally successful musician Lorde.
