About Sofia Goggia
Sofia Goggia is an Italian alpine ski racer, born on November 15, 1992. She gained international recognition by winning the gold medal in the downhill event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Prior to this achievement, she had already demonstrated her prowess by achieving first-place finishes in both the downhill and Super-G events at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. By 2023, she has secured the World Cup downhill title four times.
Goggia was raised in Bergamo, Italy before gaining fame as a prominent figure in alpine skiing. Notably, despite having only four World Cup starts in giant slalom to her name, she was named to the Italian women’s team for the 2013 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
She comes from a supportive family; her parents are Ezio and Giuliana Goggia.
