About Shonda Rhimes
Shonda Rhimes (born January 13, 1970) is a screenwriter, producer, and director hailing from Chicago, Illinois. She is best known for creating the successful ABC TV shows Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Scandal. Rhimes has earned multiple Emmy Award nominations and won a Golden Globe in 2007 for her work on Grey’s Anatomy.
Prior to her television career, Rhimes studied at Dartmouth College before breaking into the industry. Her achievements include receiving the Gary Rosenberg Writing Fellowship Award from USC’s Film School for being at the top of her class and writing the screenplay for the 2002 Brittany Spears film Crossroads.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Shonda Rhimes is also a mother to three children named Harper, Emerson, and Beckett.
