Shobana, born on March 21, 1966 in India, is an Indian actress and dancer. She has earned acclaim for her roles in films such as Manichithrathazhu (1993) and Mitr, My Friend (2002), winning two National Film Awards along with several other accolades including Filmfare Awards and Kerala State Film Award.
Prior to her acting career, Shobana trained under renowned Bharata Natyam dancers Padma Subrahmanyam and Chitra Visweswaran. She was also successful as a dancer and choreographer in her twenties. Notably, she received four Best Malayalam Actress Filmfare Awards for her performances.
Shobana comes from a family of well-known Indian actresses and dancers known as the Travancore sisters. In 2010, she adopted a daughter named Ananthanarayani.
