About Shirley Temple
Shirley Temple was a child star, having received a Juvenile Academy Award in 1935. She’s best known for films like Glad Rags to Riches, Bright Eyes, Fort Apache and A Little Princess. Her acting career began when she was just four years old in a series of one-reelers called Baby Burlesks. In 1974 she became a U.S. Ambassador after retiring from the business at age 22. Unfortunately some of her childhood performances have since been seen as inappropriate – something mentioned in her book Child Star. In 1945 she married John Agar and they were divorced five years later; she then married Charles Alden Black and had two children with him (Charles Jr & Lori). Jane Darwell also starred alongside Shirley Temple in Curly Top!
