About Shirley Carvalhaes
Shirley Carvalhaes is a Brazilian singer known for her contemporary Christian style of music. Born on September 7, 1954, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she has gained recognition for her mezzo-soprano vocal range and popular singles such as “Explode Coracao”, “Sobrevivi”, and “E Preciso”.
Carvalhaes began her career in 1975 after being asked to cover for Wilson de Almeida due to unexpected health problems. Her first solo album was released in 1976. She received international attention with the release of the album Song Time Has Arrived under the Sony Music label in 2012.
In addition to her musical achievements, Carvalhaes has performed at various spiritual venues throughout Brazil including Catedral De Madureira, the Confressodo AAADT in Timon, and at the ADBM Ministry in Pirapetinga.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro before moving to Mesquita, she often acknowledges her parents as major sources of inspiration for her career.
