Sheila McCarthy (born January 1, 1956) is a Canadian movie actress known for her distinguished career. She has won multiple Genie Awards for her work in film and several Gemini Awards for her performances on television.
Prior to gaining fame, Sheila grew up in Toronto and honed her acting skills at the HB Studio in New York City. Notably, she worked as an aerobics instructor in 1983 and contributed to a production of Godspell at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario.
Not limited to screen work, Sheila has also earned multiple Dora Awards for her endeavors in theater. In terms of personal life, she was married to actor Peter Donaldson from 1986 until his passing in 2011. They welcomed their first daughter in 1988 followed by their second daughter’s birth in 1992.
