About Shayna Baszler
Shayna Baszler is a professional wrestler and former mixed martial artist, who was born on August 8, 1980 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Upon signing with NXT in 2017, she became the NXT women’s champion. She also participated in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate.
Prior to her wrestling career, Baszler attended Nazarene University where she studied religion before embarking on training in mixed martial arts with focuses on jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and catch wrestling.
Baszler is known by the moniker “The Queen of Spades” and has been seen carrying an electric guitar during her fight walkups. She comes from a family that includes parents Margaret and Skip Braszler; growing up in South Dakota allowed her to contribute to bringing a combat sports athletic commission to the state.
