About Shaylee Gonzales
Shaylee Gonzales (born May 2, 2000) is an American basketball point guard hailing from Chandler, Arizona. She gained recognition for her outstanding performance as a freshman at Brigham Young University in 2018. During her senior year of high school, she maintained impressive stats including averaging 21 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Prior to her time at BYU, Gonzales played for the University of Texas.
Gonzales’ talent was evident early on when she received a scholarship offer from BYU at the age of just 14 following an exceptional showing at a basketball camp.
In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Gonzales was honored with the title of Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year in 2017.
Born into a family deeply involved in basketball, both of her parents Candice and Josh were former basketball players themselves at Grand Canyon University. Additionally, Gonzales has two younger sisters and two younger brothers who also share their passion for hoops.
