About Shawnee Kish
Shawnee Kish is a Canadian singer and songwriter known for her popular songs such as “Mirror Me” and “Warrior Heart.” She gained recognition as a Juno Award nominee for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year at the Juno Awards in 2022. Shawnee’s debut EP was released in 2021, and she also created Music Is My Medicine, which was performed by the National Arts Centre Orchestra for the CBC Gem web series Undisrupted.
Before rising to fame, Shawnee began her singing career at age 12 by performing Shania Twain songs. In 2020, she won CBC Music’s Searchlight competition and went on to become one of the winners of the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class program for artist development in 2021.
With Mohawk ancestry, Shawnee Kish married Olympic rugby player Jen Kish in 2021. Additionally, she contributed to an all-star recording of Serena Ryder’s “What I Wouldn’t Do,” which was released as a charity single to support Kids Help Phone’s Feel Out Loud campaign for youth mental health in 2023.
